Watch Ghost’s Macabre Music Video For Single “Spillways” – Rolling Stone

The song appears on the Swedish metal band’s new album, Impera.

Ghost is out an evocative music video for their single “Spillways”, taken from the Swedish metal band’s recent album, Impera.

Directed by Amir Chamdin, the cinematic clip sees the band perform in an austere, dark room as eight dancers perform the song with blood pouring from their eyes. As they play, the musicians wear gas masks while frontman Tobias Forge dons his signature black and white makeup as he sings about the need for internal darkness to escape.

Ghost, led by Forge, who performs under the stage name Papa Emeritus, released Impera earlier this year. It followed their 2018 album, Prequel, which told the prescient tale of a plague that not only spread disease across the world, but also contagious schools of thought. The new album centers around the “concept of empires and their self-destructive mechanisms”, as Forge described it to rolling stone earlier this year.

The theatrical metal outfit will launch the next leg of its Imperatour next month. The North American tour will see the band headlining 19 arenas across the United States and Canada, as well as an appearance at Virginia’s Blue Ridge Rock Fest. The tour begins August 26 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego and short until September 23 at the Resch Center in Green Bay. Information and tickets are available here.
