(“CVAT”), (CVAT) announced the launch of a water remediation pilot project and a feasibility study in South Africa to be funded by the United States Trade and Development Agency (“USTDA”) worth $1.7 million which aims to identify solutions to the dwindling water supply and the increase in sewage that challenges Africa and the world at large.
The FS project is sponsored by the Future Water Institute at the University of Cape Town (UCT) through its research site based at the Water Hub, Franschhoek, in the Western Cape of South Africa. As exclusive contractors, the project team consists of Partnership International, Inc. (PI) and CVAT, as well as local contractor Alveo Water (Alveo) and the Future Water Institute at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in Cape Town.
CVAT’s patented technology addresses dwindling water sources and increasing wastewater generation by making more water supplies available at low cost and allowing industry to recycle waste water. wastewater, thus reducing consumption costs. The objective of the FE is to identify intensive water users as initial models of replication based on similar demand/supply. The SF will review and propose three (3) bankable business models within a “user finance model” for scaling including:
1. Water providers who seek to effectively clean water and wastewater supplies;
2. Private sector industry seeking to recover large quantities of wastewater for reuse and to reduce solid waste;
3. Farms and cooperatives that need to clean up their water supply and reuse wastewater for irrigation.
The global wastewater recycling and reuse technology market was estimated at $21.3 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach $40.5 billion by 2026, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 14% , according to data from BCC Research.
